If you are able to stay far away from this place please do. This has to be by far the worst and most horrible food I had ever ate in my life. The brisket had no bark no color no flavor like are you serious all it had was smoke seasoning. The chicken for the two meat plate has to be make out of old chicken. Ate like rubber but I’ll tell they made sure to pour on the bbq sauce for flavor and moisture. Had potato salad that tasted like somebody doesn’t know how to make potato salad and this was their first time. Ordered the wings Memphis style thinking nobody could mess up wings. Well they did, wings were dry, flavorless even with Memphis sauce on them. SMH Oh yea ordered a banana pudding for dessert but they didn’t put it my bag. Guessing that was flavorless and horrible also. So wish google did negative scoring. 1 star is way too high for this place

Walked in and sat down. Chris immediately attended to us as we began to order. Very professional and prompt…once we got the food it was incredible! I have had BBQ all over the east coast, as far south as Alabama, and even midwest style and this was top quality and taste!

This was our first trip to North Carolina and we wanted to try North Carolina BBQ. So, we ordered takeout while visiting Durham. I'm leaving 2 stars in case this may have been an off night, and for this review not to be dismissed as one of those "I only left one star because I couldn't leave zero" posts that even I usually ignore. But with the amount of issues, this could easily be justified as a one-star review. When I arrived around 6:45–7:00 p.m. on a weeknight, the restaurant was completely empty. I didn't think much of it at the time, but afterward this seemed unusual for a barbecue restaurant in a state known for its BBQ. The first real issue was that one of our two-meat dinners was missing one of the meats. Next was that the brisket was extremely dry, even when soaked in barbecue sauce by them, and even more sauce added by me. The ribs had an acrid smoke flavor and a smell that resembled the odor more of cigarette smoke than even liquid smoke. I'm not accusing the cooks of smoking in the kitchen. In fact, research tells me, "An unpleasant, ashtray-like smell can come from dirty smoke (a poorly managed fire), excessive creosote, or meat that sat too long." With how empty th

This place was soooo good. Family came from out of town and we decided on Mavericks for dinner. I loved the pulled chicken/pork and the brisket. I got the 2 meat plate which comes with 2 sides and hush puppies! This is such a good deal for the amount of food and quality. Everything well seasoned and the collards were really good. We also got the little deviled eggs to try as an appetizer and let me tell you it will blow your mind how much flavor came from that egg with some kind of onion/pepper jam on top, amazing. Our server was great also! This was everyone’s first time here and we definitely will be back

Service was prompt, order was accurate. We ordered the smaller family pack. The sausage and fried okra were great. The chicken, pork and brisket were heavily sauced. The brisket should have been sliced not shredded. It wasn't bad if you like that much sauce on your meat, but it hides the flavor of smoked meat.
